Systems’ announces availability of CL Series a new Clustered Network Storage Platform
for Large Scale Collaborative Video Editing of DVCPRO HD® and DNxHD
targeting Broadcast and Post Production installations

Orange, Calif., April 13th, 2007 – Apace Systems Corporation®, a
leading storage solutions provider for video, announced that it has started
shipment of a new clustered network storage line targeting large scale broadcast
and post production market in need of collaborative real-time video editing networked
storage platform. CL Series serves particularly well for large scale DVCPRO HD and
DNxHD video stream editing workgroups such as broadcast
news and other similar workflows that need simultaneous multiple streams of ingest,
edit and playback of video content. CL
Series single Cluster unit comprises of two systems and offers up to 30 DVCPRO
HD and 20 DNxHD video streams and 10 client machines.
Customers can scale up by adding more clustered units to their network. Video editing workgroups in broadcast are
embracing the DVCPRO HD high definition format and want to enable large staff
of editors to collaborate on editing and preparation of time sensitive video material
in a timely and productive fashion. As multiple captured content using HD
cameras arrives from the field, it is safely ingested via Apace systems end-to-end
special capture agent software that converts any edit node with a capture card
into a capture node. Intelligent throttling of data from client nodes enables large
scale parallel ingest of content into CL cluster consolidated networked storage
system, while the capture nodes are double tasking as edit nodes and/or other
editing machines are working on incoming ingested content. As such, massive
amount of material is concurrently captured, edited and quickly prepped for delivery
to On-Air servers all in relatively demanding DVCPRO HD 100Mbits/s per video
stream, DNxHD 145 or equivalent formats.
Additionally, for users who have direct attach storage islands such as USB, Firewire, SCSI, FC, Apace Systems offers data migration
tools such as vShare where existing content residing
on these platforms can be migrated to CL networked storage for sharing and
collaboration.
Offered performance, capacity,
resilience and scalability of CL series systems allow low latency jitter free
video edit and playback from its scalable network storage pool over LAN. PC and
MAC based Heterogeneous workgroups with different editing and graphics
applications can share and collaborate on the same storage pool and have their
own storage partitions for data coherence and managed content synchronization.
The platform offer a layer of content access right management at the project
and file level offering virtual definition of users with different data
manipulation read/write or read only access rights.

Inherent to CL series architecture is high
performance Raid- protected storage as well as system level redundancy over IP
LAN, eliminating the need for SAN deployment. As such it avoids its hard to manage and not
interoperable management software altogether.
Each CL series cluster unit comes in 12TB or 24TB and the storage
capacity is scaled by just adding CL cluster units to the IP network. CL series
offers inter and intra system 10GE connectivity between cluster systems,
offering a wide backbone, while enabling editing client nodes to connect to it storage
via readily deployed GE connectivity. Each cluster unit offers twelve direct
Gigabit Ethernet connections offering options for direct or through clients
switch fabric connectivity.
