Apace next generation SSD/HDD hybrid Media Storage Appliances offers performance leap in collaborative video editing over IP

NAB2011, Booth SL8523

ORANGE, Calif. --(BusinessWire)- April 11th, 2011-Apace Systems Corporation®, a leading media workflow, management and storage solution provider for media content creation, distribution and archive, announces immediate availability of its vStor v4000 series network storage systems, enabling advanced real-time & shared collaborative video editing with high throughput of access over multi-Gigabit Ethernet(GE) and 10GE IP networks.

vStor v4000 is the fourth generation of Apace's flagship video editing storage products continuing its tradition of support for Avid video editing, Apple FCP, Adobe Premiere, Grass Valley Edius, Harris Velocity, Sony Vegas and Autodesk. With hundreds of field deployments since 2002, vStor line offers choice of Hard Drive based storage and now hybrid Hard Drive and Solid State Flash drives for different system performance and capacity needs.

Apace appliances offer five core functionalities for advanced media editing workflows:

a) Low Latency performance: vStors with SSD based option offer unsurpassed aggregate stream count access per workgroups with large user pools or performance driven editors with need for manipulating HD class video formatted in DNxHD, ProRes and DVCPRO- HD, etc.

b) Scalable performance and capacity: Clustered via 10GE backbone, each added vStor, linearly scales the aggregate served video stream count and storage capacity for workgroups. File and workspace management via Apace FileManager assures seamless use of hybrid HDD/SSD storage in meeting performance and space requirement of workspaces. Paired with Apace eStor near-line storage tape-less storage clusters are facilitated.

c) Serviceability of applications: vStor as editing storage server can additionally house Apace's media asset management (postMAM), storage consolidation (Octopa) and camera ingest software (Ingesters) as integrated solution suites.

d) Assured ingest and play-out: vStors paired with direct ingest/play-out servers offer no-frame drop ingest of multiple HD video streams, while bridging post production and play-on-air workgroups together for broadcast customers.

e) Workspace virtualization with security of access: vStors assure workspace access by users is decoupled from physicality of the workspace residing on its storage cluster, as users are presented with their virtual workspace list for access. Security for access is assured as each workspace has its predefined user access rights profile (Read/Write or Read only) assigned by an administrator or project manager. Apace web based connector software auto-mount of assigned workspaces to editing workstations decoupling user from editing nodes as well. Web based GUI of vStors assures global IT serviceability.
